On October 2, 2023, at approximately 7:18 a.m., Durham police responded to a report of gunshots in the 1000 block of Worth Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered two women with life-threatening gunshot wounds. Both victims were transported to a local hospital, where 30-year-old Angela Marina Risi succumbed to her injuries. The second victim survived and was reported to be in stable condition.
