On November 5, 2023, at approximately 12:45 a.m., Durham police responded to reports of gunfire near the intersection of West Morgan Street and Watts Street, a bustling area known for its nightlife and proximity to Duke University's East Campus. Upon arrival, officers discovered 24-year-old Twanda Shant’e Parker suffering from gunshot wounds. She was promptly transported to a local hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.
