Death by Force

Simeka Andrea Daughtridge, a 29-year-old African American woman, was found with a gunshot wound at her residence on 1100 Spruce Street in Durham, North Carolina, on October 30, 2011. She was transported to Duke University Hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries. The circumstances surrounding her death were initially treated as suspicious by the Durham police, who refrained from immediately classifying it as a homicide.
