On the evening of February 15, 1999, the promising life of Lamont Coleman, a 24-year-old male American rapper known professionally as Big L, was tragically cut short. He was in his native Harlem, on West 139th Street, not far from his home, when he became the victim of a drive-by shooting. Coleman was struck by nine bullets to the face and chest, a violent end to a career that was on the verge of mainstream success.
