Michael J. Buczek, a 24-year-old New York City Police Officer, tragically lost his life on October 18, 1988, while on duty in Washington Heights, Manhattan. Buczek and his partner, Joseph Barbato, were patrolling the 34th Precinct when they attempted to intervene in a drug deal on West 161st Street near Broadway.
