On November 12, 2023, at approximately 2:00 a.m., a shooting occurred on Seigle Avenue in Charlotte, North Carolina, resulting in the death of 26-year-old Damario Arkel Moore. Two other individuals sustained non-life-threatening injuries during the incident. All three victims were transported to a local hospital, where Moore was pronounced deceased.
Following an investigation, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department identified 28-year-old Montrez McCoy as a suspect in the case.
On December 18, 2023, McCoy was arrested and charged with first-degree murder, two counts of attempted murder, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Moore's death deeply affected his family and friends, who described him as "the glue to everybody in some type of way," providing support and motivation to those around him. A candlelight vigil was held in his memory at Camp Greene Park, where loved ones gathered to honor his life.
The investigation into the shooting remains active and ongoing. Authorities have urged anyone with additional information to contact the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit or Crime Stoppers to assist in the case.
