On November 28, 2023, a tragic incident occurred in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, resulting in the deaths of 20-year-old Alexander David Housden and his 16-year-old sister, Kaylee Nicole Housden. Authorities determined that their father, 55-year-old David Lee Housden, fatally shot both of his children before taking his own life in an apparent murder-suicide. The children's mother was present during the incident and reported it to the police; she was unharmed.
