Noblake Lewis Taylor, a 47-year-old African American male, tragically lost his life on February 19, 2021, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Taylor was found in his apartment at Sunrise Towers on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite the efforts of Forsyth County Emergency Medical Services, Taylor was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation revealed that Taylor had been involved in a verbal altercation with Tony Rogers, a 54-year-old acquaintance. The argument escalated, leading Rogers to shoot Taylor. Rogers remained at the scene and was subsequently arrested by the Winston-Salem Police Department. He was charged with Taylor's murder and is currently being held at the Forsyth County Law Enforcement Detention Center without bail.
This incident marked the fifth homicide in Winston-Salem in 2021, a significant increase compared to the same period in 2020. The police have urged anyone with additional information about the case to come forward.
