Do you know who murdered Myron Nakao? Myron K. Nakao, a 51-year-old Asian / Pacific Islander man, spent the evening of July 23, 1997 in Honolulu’s Keeaumoku area, where he was last seen at a bar. 
Later that night, at about 9:45 p.m., he was found unconscious on the sidewalk near the intersection of Makaloa and Amana Streets in the Ala Moana area. The injuries were severe enough that he was rushed to the hospital in critical condition, and he died at The Queen’s Medical Center on Friday.

Investigators described the attack as a beating, noting multiple contusions to his face and indicating he may have been struck with a blunt instrument. In the days immediately after his death, officials said the medical examiner had not yet made an official determination of the cause of death. 
What happened between the bar and that stretch of Makaloa Street has never been publicly explained in detail, and the motive was uncertain from the outset. Police said robbery was not believed to be the reason, because Nakao was found with his wallet and credit cards. 
Publicly available summaries of the case do not name any suspect and do not report any arrests or charges connected to the killing; it remains listed as an unresolved homicide.
