Police were looking for the killer of a 49-year-old Phoenix man found dead of a gunshot wound in his west Phoenix residence.

Arnold Ray Carpenter Jr. was found in the 3800 block of West Willetta Street. Police had received a call asking officers to check on his welfare.

Investigators believe Carpenter was killed between 4 p.m. Oct. 22 and 6:55 a.m. Oct. 23.
