On March 27, 2024, at approximately 7 p.m., Laurinburg Police Department officers responded to reports of gunfire in the Covenant Way area of Laurinburg, North Carolina. Upon arrival, they discovered 84-year-old resident Cleophus Daniel Bass deceased in a neighboring yard from an apparent gunshot wound.
