On June 10, 2024, at approximately 3:15 p.m., Newton Police Department officers responded to a reported shooting at the intersection of South Brady Avenue and East A Street in downtown Newton, North Carolina. Upon arrival, they discovered 51-year-old Kelvin Jerome England inside a vehicle stopped at a stop sign, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Despite the life-saving efforts of emergency responders, England was pronounced dead at the scene.
