On June 23, 2024, at approximately 11:00 a.m., Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) officers responded to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon in the 9000 block of Faires Road in east Charlotte, North Carolina. Upon arrival, they discovered 24-year-old Joemanie Sweeney suffering from a gunshot wound. Emergency medical personnel pronounced him deceased at the scene.
