Solomon Fleming Jr., a 22-year-old African American male, was tragically killed in a shooting incident in southwest Charlotte, North Carolina, on August 1, 2020. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call just before 11 a.m. in the 7000 block of S Tryon Street near the Soho Market. Upon arrival, officers found Solomon Fleming Jr. in the parking lot with an apparent gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Medic.
The investigation revealed that an altercation led to the shooting, and it was believed that the suspect and the victim knew each other. The CMPD identified Jamie Marcel Graham, a 21-year-old male, as the prime suspect in the murder case. Graham was wanted for murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
On September 18, 2020, Jamie Marcel Graham was arrested by the Violent Criminal Apprehension Team with the assistance of officers from the CMPD K9 Unit and Providence Division. After an interview, Graham was transferred to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office and charged with murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon, and firearm by a felon. The investigation into the case remains active and ongoing.
