On the evening of August 25, 2024, 22-year-old Anzaryia "Poodie" Cobb was fatally shot near Building 8 of the Mitchell Wooten Apartments in Kinston, North Carolina. Emergency responders arrived promptly, and while she was being airlifted to ECU Health Medical Center, Cobb succumbed to her injuries. Known for her prowess on the basketball court, Cobb was a standout player at Kinston High School from 2016 to 2019. She had recently become a mother, giving birth to a daughter on June 23, 2024.
