Marilyn R. Noble, a 71-year-old woman from Kinston, North Carolina, tragically passed away on June 12, 2016. She had worked as a secretary at Brock Motor Company for 20 years and was well-regarded in her community. Marilyn is survived by her daughters, Ina Marie McCall and Kristen Deaver Black, her son Russell Mack McCall, and her grandchildren.
Marilyn's death was the result of a robbery gone wrong.
On the day of her death, two men, Robert Lavar Lewis and Edward Percy Garrett, attempted to rob a business located at 2358 Hwy. 11/55 in Kinston. During the robbery, Marilyn was shot and killed. The Lenoir County Sheriff's Office launched an investigation and, with the help of the public and assistance from other law enforcement agencies, identified and arrested the suspects.
Both Robert Lavar Lewis, 32, of Kinston, and Edward Percy Garrett, 36, of Greenville, were charged with first-degree murder and robbery with a dangerous weapon. They were arrested on July 1 and July 2, 2016, respectively, and are currently held in the W.E. "Billy" Smith Detention Center under no bond. Sheriff Ronnie Ingram expressed relief that the suspects were apprehended and hoped that Marilyn's family would find some peace knowing that justice would be served.
The investigation into Marilyn Noble's death involved multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Kinston Police Department, Greenville Police Department, and the NCSBI Fugitive and Missing Persons Task Force. The collaborative effort led to the successful arrest of the suspects and brought closure to a tragic case.
