On February 28, 2023, Bryan Cummings, a 40-year-old resident of Harlem, New York, was fatally shot during a poker game in a first-floor apartment located at 114 W. 137th Street, near Malcolm X Boulevard. The incident occurred around 2 a.m., when police responded to a 911 call reporting a shooting at the address. Upon arrival, officers found Cummings with a gunshot wound to the torso. He was immediately transported to NYC Health + Hospitals/Harlem, where he was later pronounced deceased.
