On March 25, 2023, at approximately 3:07 a.m., a tragic incident unfolded at the intersection of East 179th Street and Mapes Avenue in the Bronx. Darnell Johnson, a 34-year-old resident of the Bronx, was found with multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) transported him to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. A second victim, a 33-year-old male, sustained a gunshot wound to his right arm and was listed in stable condition at Bronx Lebanon Hospital.
