On a late spring evening, the life of 19-year-old Rahmeir Barnett was tragically cut short in a burst of gunfire on the south side of Syracuse, New York. On Saturday, May 6, 2023, what should have been a normal night turned into a scene of violence and loss. The shooting, which occurred around 11:15 p.m. in the 1500 block of South Avenue, not only claimed the young man's life but also left a 16-year-old girl with a gunshot wound to her arm.
