On the night of May 6, 2023, 19-year-old Rahmeir Barnett was fatally shot on Syracuse's south side. The incident occurred around 11:15 p.m. in the 1500 block of South Avenue near West Colvin Street. Barnett sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his midsection and was transported to Upstate Hospital in a private vehicle, where he was later pronounced dead.
