In the Morrisania neighborhood of the Bronx, a late spring evening turned tragic for Clifford White, a 42-year-old Black man. On May 29, 2023, at approximately 10:50 p.m., the lobby of a building at 1199 Boston Road, next door to his own home, became the scene of his untimely death. White was discovered with multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body, having been shot about 10 times.
Emergency services were called to the location, and he was quickly transported to NYC Health and Hospitals/Lincoln, but his injuries proved to be fatal, and he was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The initial investigation into the shooting did not lead to any immediate arrests, leaving a period of uncertainty. However, detectives continued to work the case, and a breakthrough came on June 21, 2023. On that day, the New York Police Department arrested 21-year-old Michael Rios in connection with the fatal shooting.
