In the borough of the Bronx, a life was cut short on a late Saturday evening in June. Isiah Johnson, a 25-year-old Black male, was in the West Farms section, just a block away from his residence at 5 West Farms Square Plaza, when tragedy struck. On June 17, 2023, at approximately 11:31 PM, the sound of gunfire shattered the night in front of 994 East 180th Street.
Responding to a 911 call reporting the shooting, officers from the New York Police Department arrived at the scene to find
Johnson with a gunshot wound to his torso. Emergency services were dispatched, and he was quickly transported to Saint Barnabas Hospital in an effort to save his life. Despite the efforts of medical professionals, Isiah Johnson was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The investigation into the shooting was immediately launched by the NYPD. As of the latest available reports, no arrests have been made in connection with the homicide. The police are actively seeking information from the public that could lead to the identification and apprehension of the person or persons responsible for Johnson's death.
