On August 20, 2023, at approximately 12:15 AM, 25-year-old Ramal Kearse was fatally shot in Syracuse's Armory Square district. Officers on duty in the area heard gunshots and found Kearse with multiple gunshot wounds on the 400 block of South Clinton Street. Despite immediate medical attention, he was pronounced dead at Upstate University Hospital.
