On September 2, 2023, at approximately 2:38 a.m., Henry Reyes, a 24-year-old resident of Elder Avenue in the Bronx, was fatally shot near his apartment building at 1070 Elder Ave. Responding to a 911 call reporting gunfire, officers from the 43rd Precinct found Reyes with a gunshot wound to the chest. Emergency Medical Services transported him to Jacobi Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
