Death by Force

On February 7, 2024, at approximately 10 p.m., Albany Police responded to reports of a shooting near Ontario Street and First Street. Upon arrival, officers found evidence of gunfire but no victim at the scene. Shortly thereafter, they were informed of a walk-in gunshot victim at Albany Medical Center. The victim, identified as 34-year-old Albany resident Ashad A. Cooper, had been transported to the hospital by an acquaintance and was pronounced dead from a neck wound.
