In the early evening of May 1, 2014, in the South End of Albany, New York, a burst of gunfire shattered the neighborhood's calm. When the chaos subsided, 35-year-old Thomas 'Anthony' Johnson Jr. was found behind a building at 20 Second Avenue, suffering from a fatal gunshot wound. The shooting occurred around 6 p.m., a time when many people were outside, and witnesses reported hearing the shots.
