On the evening of March 24, 2024, a tragic shooting occurred in East Harlem, New York City, resulting in the deaths of 18-year-old Ashley Ballard and 25-year-old Harry Mendoza. The incident took place near East 128th Street and Lexington Avenue, just before 7:30 p.m. First responders found Ballard with gunshot wounds to her back and head, and Mendoza with a gunshot wound to his head.
