Marissa Galloway, a 45-year-old special education teacher from New York City, tragically lost her life on July 26, 2024, in a murder-suicide incident near Gracie Mansion. The assailant, Kathleen Leigh, 65, was the mother of Galloway's ex-partner, Zachariah Reed. Leigh, a retired probation officer from Chicago, fatally shot Galloway twice before turning the weapon on herself.
