On July 5, 2024, the body of 31-year-old Yazmeen Williams was discovered wrapped in a blue sleeping bag and concealed within a trash bag on East 27th Street in the Kips Bay neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City. The medical examiner's office determined that Williams had died from a gunshot wound to the head, and her death was ruled a homicide.
