Zurana Zuri Horton, a 34-year-old mother of twelve, tragically lost her life on October 21, 2011, in Brooklyn, New York. Horton was fatally shot while performing an act of heroism, shielding a group of children from gunfire. The incident occurred as she was picking up her daughter from school in the Brownsville neighborhood.
