On April 1, 2024, at approximately 5:31 a.m., New York State Police responded to a reported shooting near 4829 Lincoln Pond Road in Elizabethtown, New York. Upon arrival, they discovered 40-year-old William E. Ball of Moriah deceased inside a vehicle, having sustained a fatal gunshot wound to his right shoulder. An autopsy later confirmed the cause of death as a homicide.
