On a late spring evening in Brooklyn, the life of 30-year-old Russell Lamont was cut short by gunfire. The fatal shooting occurred on May 18, 2024, at approximately 10:57 p.m. near 101 Osborne Street in the Brownsville neighborhood. Responding to a 911 call about two people being shot, police officers discovered Lamont with multiple gunshot wounds to his chest.
Nearby, a 28-year-old man was also found with a gunshot wound to his hand. Both men were urgently transported to Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center. Despite the efforts of medical staff, Lamont was pronounced dead. The second victim was reported to be in stable condition.
