On August 10, 2024, the New York State Police responded to a residence at 257 Parsons Road in Chenango Forks following a report of an unresponsive male. Upon arrival, officers discovered 63-year-old Scott E. Cleary deceased inside his home. A subsequent search led to the discovery of 38-year-old Matthew J. Lott's body approximately a quarter-mile north of the residence, near railroad tracks. Both men were acquaintances residing together at the Parsons Road address.
