On September 11, 2024, Carlos Solano, a 43-year-old resident of Forest Hills, Queens, was fatally shot near the intersection of Humphreys Street and 25th Avenue in East Elmhurst. Witnesses reported a heated dispute between Solano and another man shortly before the shooting occurred around 4:30 p.m. Solano sustained gunshot wounds to the head and was transported to Elmhurst Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
