In the early morning hours of September 16, 2024, a dispute in the Inwood neighborhood of upper Manhattan turned deadly, claiming the life of 32-year-old Wilmer Rosario. The Bronx resident was inside a commercial building on 10th Avenue when the altercation escalated into an exchange of gunfire. Officers from the 34th Precinct responded to a 911 call around 5:49 a.m.
and discovered Rosario with multiple gunshot wounds to his face and chest.
Emergency medical services rushed Rosario to NYC Health and Hospitals/Harlem, but his injuries proved to be fatal, and he was pronounced dead at the hospital. Investigators believe the shooting stemmed from a dispute between Rosario and an unidentified male suspect.
The male suspect fled the scene before police arrived and remains at large. Law enforcement has not released a detailed description of the individual.
