A 59-year-old Black male, Richard Brown, was tragically killed on the evening of Thursday, October 3, 2024, in a shooting that took place in an apartment in Queens, New York. The incident occurred at the Ocean Bay Apartments, a New York City Housing Authority complex in the Arverne section of the Rockaways. Friends of Mr. Brown mentioned that he had been actively trying to overcome a drug dependency.
Officers from the 101st Precinct were dispatched to an apartment at 319 Beach 54th St.
following a 911 call reporting a shooting. Upon entering the residence, they found Richard Brown unconscious and suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the head. Emergency medical personnel arrived at the scene but were unable to revive him, and he was pronounced dead at the apartment.
The New York Police Department's homicide detectives are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting. To date, authorities have not made any arrests in connection with the case, and no suspects have been publicly identified. The investigation into the death of Richard Brown is active and ongoing.
