On February 15, 2023, Cha’nelle Brooks, a 22-year-old woman from Sparta, Illinois, was fatally shot in St. Louis, Missouri. The incident occurred around 6:30 p.m. in the 4800 block of Margaretta Avenue, located in the Penrose neighborhood. Upon arrival, officers found Brooks and a man in his 30s lying outside with gunshot wounds. Brooks was pronounced dead at the scene, while the male victim was transported to a hospital in critical condition.
