On March 11, 2023, at approximately 11:45 p.m., Kansas City police responded to reports of a shooting near 12th and Wyoming streets in the West Bottoms neighborhood. Upon arrival, officers discovered 18-year-old Makel Williams suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.
