In the late hours of a Saturday night in Kansas City, Missouri, tragedy began to unfold for 18-year-old Makel Williams, a Black/African American male. On March 11, 2023, at approximately 11:45 p.m., police responded to reports of a shooting in the West Bottoms neighborhood, near 12th and Wyoming streets.
