In the quiet city of Joplin, Missouri, a welfare check on a residence at 1403 E. Broadway Street on the morning of March 22, 2023, led to a grim discovery. Unable to make contact with the occupants, officers from the Joplin Police Department made the decision to force entry into the home. Inside, they found the bodies of 44-year-old Jason Shofler and 24-year-old Savannah Bell, both residents of Joplin. Shofler was a white male who worked as an auto body technician.
