On March 22, 2023, the Joplin Police Department conducted a welfare check at a residence located at 1403 E. Broadway Street in Joplin, Missouri. Upon arrival, officers forced entry into the home and discovered the bodies of 44-year-old Jason Shofler and 24-year-old Savannah Bell.
Autopsies performed on March 24, 2023, confirmed that both individuals died from gunshot wounds. A single firearm was recovered at the scene; however, authorities have not disclosed its exact location relative
