In a quiet Hazelwood, Missouri neighborhood, a tragic incident unfolded on the evening of April 11, 2023, ending the lives of 63-year-old James Moore and his 70-year-old wife, Norma Moore. James Moore was a Black / African American male. The devastating events began to unfold around 7:30 p.m. when Norma Moore placed a distress call to emergency services, her words conveying a chilling sense of urgency: 'My son... he's got a gun.'. The dispatchers then heard two gunshots over the open line.
