In the early morning hours of November 14, 2015, the quiet of a Hazelwood, Missouri neighborhood was broken by violence that left a young man dead. Responding to a call shortly after midnight, police officers arrived at the 8500 block of Steve Avenue to a grim discovery. There in a driveway lay the body of 24-year-old Calvin Lamar Sharp. He had been shot and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Hazelwood Police Department quickly sought the assistance of the Major Case Squad of Greater
St. Louis to investigate the homicide. The investigation into the death of Calvin Sharp, a St. Charles man, moved forward, seeking to piece together the events that led to the fatal shooting.
The efforts of the investigators culminated in the identification of a suspect. As a result of the investigation, authorities arrested and charged 32-year-old Carlos Johnson in connection with Sharp's death. Johnson faced serious charges, including second-degree murder, unlawful possession of a firearm, and armed criminal action, for his alleged role in the shooting that ended Calvin Sharp's life.
