On the night of September 30, 2023, a dispute between two groups at a QuikTrip gas station in Hazelwood, Missouri, escalated into a scene of deadly violence. In the chaos that ensued, with at least 70 gunshots fired, 18-year-old Charles Carbon IV was fatally wounded. A Black / African American male from north St. Louis County, Carbon was a passenger in a black Acura that had just pulled into the parking lot at 7400 North Lindbergh Boulevard when the shooting began at approximately 10:25 p.m.
