On May 29, 2023, at approximately 4:15 a.m., 42-year-old Michael P. Kaminski Jr., known as "Copper Mike," was fatally shot near the riverfront in St. Louis, Missouri. Police responded to the 800 block of Leonor K. Sullivan Boulevard, near Martin Luther King Drive, where they found Kaminski on the sidewalk with gunshot wounds to his hip and abdomen. He was transported to a hospital but succumbed to his injuries.
