On June 5, 2023, 63-year-old Phillip "David" Thompson was found deceased in a barn near his residence in Bolivar, Missouri. His brother discovered the body and contacted authorities, reporting that Thompson appeared to have been shot. The barn was located just a few feet from their home, and another individual, identified as 39-year-old Shane Ellzey, also resided on the property.
