On the night of June 9, 2023, violence erupted in a residential neighborhood of Jennings, Missouri, claiming the life of Darereon Falls, a 27-year-old Black male. Officers from the St. Louis County Police Department were dispatched to the 5600 block of Janet Avenue just before midnight, following reports of a shooting in the area. Upon their arrival at the scene at approximately 11:41 p.m., first responders entered a home where they discovered the victim suffering from critical injuries.
