On December 3, 2023, at approximately 1:19 a.m., Kirksville police responded to a reported shooting at 805 East McPherson Street. Upon arrival, officers found 65-year-old Steve Conyers suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to Northeast Regional Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries about an hour later.
