On December 24, 2023, 40-year-old Kansas City resident, Amber Minor, was found deceased in a driveway in Raytown, Missouri, around 8:35 a.m. Authorities pronounced her dead at the scene from an apparent gunshot wound. Initial reports misgendered and deadnamed Minor; however, local LGBTQ+ advocates, including the LGBTQ Commission of Kansas City, confirmed her identity as a Black transgender woman. Friends remembered her as resilient and full of laughter.
