In the early morning hours of New Year's Day, 2024, violence erupted in the streets of Charleston, Missouri, claiming the life of a young local resident. At approximately 4:00 a.m. on January 1, officers from the Charleston Department of Public Safety were dispatched to a residence on West Ada Street following urgent reports of a shooting. Upon their arrival at the scene, law enforcement discovered 20-year-old Malik Jones, who had sustained gunshot wounds during the incident.
