Deputy Sheriff Gordon Leon Galemore of the Mississippi County Sheriff's Department in Missouri was tragically killed on February 28, 1979. He was shot by an armed robbery suspect he was transporting to the police station for questioning. The suspect had robbed a Charleston service station just 30 minutes earlier.
