On March 20, 2024, Columbia Police responded to reports of a shooting in the 1400 block of Doris Drive, a residential area in northwest Columbia, Missouri. Upon arrival, officers found 34-year-old Columbia resident, Royelle Hunt, with gunshot wounds; he was pronounced dead at the scene. Another man, also suffering from gunshot injuries, was transported to a local hospital and was reported to be in stable condition.
