In the late afternoon of March 4, 2026, a burst of gunfire shattered the quiet of a Columbia, Missouri neighborhood, leaving a young man dead. The life of 20-year-old William Riechers was cut short near the intersection of Allen and Bryant streets in what authorities have described as a shootout. Emergency services responded to a shots-fired call around 3:45 p.m. and found Riechers with multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body.
